František Beneš (1878–1943) was a lawyer and passionate amateur photographer who, during his travels in Europe and North Africa, created an extensive archive of negatives, carefully stored in labeled envelopes. Throughout his life, he organized public screenings of color slides. His work, which remained hidden in a Prague apartment for many years, was accidentally discovered in 1997.
