Václav Mandys (1884-1942) was born and died in Holice, Bohemia. He came from a bricklayer family, whose tradition he continued and became a builder. He worked with his brother Bohuslav, who left for Slovakia in 1924. His activities are mainly connected with construction in his hometown. He was an active member of the local falcon, where he was the chief. During World War I, he served in the Central Army in the 30th Infantry Regiment of Vysokomyt. After the establishment of the republic, the regiment was deployed in eastern Slovakia near Prešov against the troops of the Hungarian Soviet Republic. Václav served with the rank of sergeant on its staff.
